Messi Detained by Chinese Police at Beijing Airport: Surprising Video Goes Viral

On Thursday, June 15th, there will be an international friendly match between Argentina and Australia at the Workers Stadium in Beijing. The current FIFA World Cup champions, Argentina, will try to win the hearts of Chinese fans with their performance. However, before this match, a video surfaced that surprised everyone. Apparently, the Chinese police detained Argentina’s captain and star footballer Lionel Messi at Beijing Airport. This incident took place on June 10th and the video has gone viral on social media. It happened because of Messi’s passport. According to reports, Messi was traveling on a Spanish passport instead of an Argentinean one. His Spanish passport did not have a Chinese visa.

According to local media, Messi faced this problem upon arrival in Beijing because he used his Spanish passport instead of the Argentinean one. The airport security personnel were confused when Messi didn’t use Argentina’s passport. Messi was detained for about 30 minutes and the issue was resolved. After that, Messi was given an entry visa and then he left the airport. It should be noted that Chinese visa-free entry is not applicable to Spanish passports.

Recently, Messi played his last match for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). He played for the club for two years. Now, Messi will be seen playing for the American football club Inter Miami. Before leaving PSG, there were rumors of Messi joining clubs in Saudi Arabia and Barcelona. The star footballer received offers from several European teams, but he decided to sign with Inter Miami. Messi stated that he didn’t join Miami for money; if that were the case, he would have played for the Saudi club.
